FRIENDS: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Why do you need a Friends scheme?

A Friends scheme will allow HPCA to have what we call ‘unrestricted funds,’ which we can spend on the cost of running our charity every day. At present, we rely almost exclusively on funding from project grants. Having unrestricted funding (from Friends) will mean that we can raise money to pay for the everyday things (such as paying salaries) to paying for equipment and arts materials that are essential to running our activities. It will also mean that we can start to plan for exciting projects in the future which cannot be realised, as yet, due to external funding constraints.

  • How much is it to be a Friend?

Any amount at £2 a month or above.  For example:

£2 per month (or £24 annually) – Will help fund art materials for projects across the High Peak

£5 per month (or £60 annually) – Will help fund venue hire to work with young people and adults across the High Peak as close to their home communities as possible.

£10 per month (or £120 annually) – Will help fund up to date equipment for ground-breaking projects with disadvantaged communities across the High Peak

Or people can give any amount they like per month (as long as it is over £2 per month) or as a lump sum annually.

If you would like to to donate £15 per month, great! We can accommodate different levels of giving.

  • What do I get from becoming a Friend?

All Friends enjoy:

  • Advanced news and updates
  • 10% discount off High Peak Community Arts merchandise and ticketed events

BUT, the main benefit is that you can go to sleep at night knowing that you are making a real difference to a small community arts charity, allowing it to continue its good work in using the arts as a real tool for change in peoples’ lives.

  • Can I just give you a cheque or one off bank transfer, rather than having to set up a standing order from my bank account?

Yes, supporters can give us a cheque. All cheques should be made payable to ‘High Peak Community Arts.’ You can pay for your annual Friends membership by cheque, or you can give us a one-off donation by cheque.  Get in touch if you want to make a one off bank transfer, or use the donate button for a one off payment.

  • What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid is an income tax relief designed to benefit charities. If a supporter is a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid increases the value of their charity donations by 25% because the charity can reclaim the basic rate of tax on their gift at no extra cost to the supporter.

  • Why should I let you claim gift aid?

Gift Aid helps us enormously as it allows us to claim an extra 25% of the value of your membership. This extra 25% is all money in the pot, and allows us to do so much more.

  • What happens after I’ve said ‘yes’?

We hug you and say a huge thank you!

You will receive an email from us welcoming you as a Friend and telling you about our forthcoming events.
