Glossop Film Event
The Glossop research project had another outing in November 2013, this time at Bradbury House where the films from the project were shown to some of those that took part.
The Community companions group and volunteers from Glossop Volunteer centre had all taken part in the making of the film giving their ideas, opinions and telling their stories and memories of Glossop and how it has changed over the years, what community life is like and what people think are the good and bad bits about the town.
We have the films here at HPCA and if anyone want a film night then please get in touch, also we still have the Glossopoly game if anyone wants to make use of it for their event.
The research conducted by Leicester University and HPCA was really interesting, the outcomes were positive and so to were people’s experience of living in Glossop, most people we spoke to thought there was still a strong sense of community. Research details can be found at the university website:
Glossopdale Research Project
The project continues and we are still meeting and talking to people about their sense of community in Glossop, this summer we have been at Glossop Market, Glossop carnival and we were also invited to showcase the project at a research Council meeting in Edinburgh.
The showcase event really put into perspective the work we had done. There were loads of other projects showing their work at the event and there was even some time to talk to and visit some of the other stallholders showing their work. The project sat alongside some really good, forward thinking arts based research projects and it was great to see it there and have feedback from so many people. A round or two of Glossopoly was played and we now know for sure that we have created a bit of monster. Anyone locally who wants to use/display the game or the exhibition, just get in touch, we have some events planned in Glossop with the game as well, so keep an eye out in our diary section.

Glossopdale Research Project
Some of the research from the ongoing Glossop Research project is currently touring the local libraries and is also available for any groups, schools etc, that want to use the display. The exhibition has been to Gamesley Library already and was well recieved. Its next outing will be at Glossop Library from Monday 10th June until Monday 24th June. There are loads of photos, quotes and facts as well as the Glossopoly game made by pupils at Glossopdale Community College. If your group would like to host the exhibtion please get in touch.
There are some films and pictures related to this project that we will post up soon, so keep an eye out for them.
The research is being conducted in partnership with Leicester University and is part of project funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, the project is titled
