Dragon’s Nest

Buxton Project eARTh  did a  project from January – March , called ‘What’s in a Box?’ with artist Katy McCall. After exploring with a wide range of media, each participant started with an empty box…and then created anything they wanted.

To inspire us, we visited the First Cut Exhibition at Manchester Art Gallery, where we also held our own workshop in one of the gallery’s studios. We finished with a wide variety of art work – from a Dragon’s nest to  pop up universe..

We will be making a film of the boxes, as well as holding an exhibition….. watch this space !

Peakabout Blog

From January through March 2013 the New Mills Project eARTh group have been creating their own blog.

Project eARTh Calendar 2013

Would you like to buy a 2013 calendar full of beautiful lino prints?

New Mills Project eARTh have just completed a lino print project with artist Jill Kerr to create a calendar. In just 6 sessions, the group learnt to design their artwork, to cut the design into lino,  and print it onto different backgrounds. Some people  have hand coloured the prints, others left them black and white.  From the host of seasonal  images created, we chose images for each month, and put together a collection of short literary quotes to accompany them.  The calendar  has been excellently put together  by  graphic designer Armelle Hatch, and a limited edition is now available to buy for just £5, plus  £2 p and p. (Or you can come to High Lee Hall to collect one for just the £5. Phone first to check we are in).

Please make cheques payable to High Peak Community Arts.

Fairfield Archway and Seating

The group has been working with artist Caroline Chouler -Tissier and Leander Architectural to create sculptured aluminium and steel seating for outside the shops in Fairfield, and an archway for the Granby Road Park in Fairfield.  The design for the ‘banner’ of the archway  and the five seats (in plasticine to be cast in aluminium) are now complete and look fantastic. Caroline also worked with the Fairfield Dream scheme youngsters and some adults from ROFA to design the central  ‘hub’ of the seating, and one seat. The work is now being cast at the foundry.  Unveiling is on July 21st! See front page of website for details….
